This week and weekend I was truly inspired. I try to always make sure that in whatever I do, I can still reach back and give to those less fortunate and this week was like the Super Bowl of charitable efforts for me.
First, on Wednesday, September 6th, Upper Cuts Gentlemen's Grooming Place at the National Harbor partnered with Veterans On The Rise, is a national leader in ending homelessness among veterans. Headquartered in Washington, DC, VOTR Inc. provides an array of services to veterans in DC, MD, VA, and West VA.
Groomologist Garland Chapman executed his signature "good causes groomology" changing the looks of each veteran and aided them on their journey towards getting a job and a residence.
On Thursday, September 7th, Upper Cuts Gentlemen's Grooming Place at the National Harbor partnered with MenzFit, an educational non–profit organization whose mission is ensuring long–term gainful employment and financial fitness to low–income men who are largely minority with little formal education. members.
The charity event raised money for the cause with great food, wine tasting, raffles and an amazing DJ.
Over the weekend, I attended an event in Oxon Hill, MD at Nelson Manor Vacation Rentals for STRIVE, which has developed programs that provide youth the tools to live an active lifestyle. I met the Nelson family and realized that I had much in common in Taurus Nelson. Great food, great people, and a great opportunity to develop healthy lifestyles for children.
With a nightcap celebration of my neighbor's father's 75th birthday, the week and weekend were soul-enriching indeed!
